Technology at Thelma Barker 

The faculty and students at Barker use technology at all grade levels as tools to enhance and improve student learning. Every classroom is equipped with two or three wireless touch screen computers as well as an interactive projector and Promethean board, so teachers can visually instruct the entire class at one time. The majority of classrooms also have student laptops and desktop computers. For our parents and students, JMCSS uses PowerSchool to provide access to grades, homework and other school information.

Thelma Barker is unique in that we have a technology teacher that is available to the entire school. Every other week, all students attend computer class for 55 minutes. The computer classes at Barker are much more than just educational game time. Computer classes are an extension of the classroom. Students use a variety of online tools and sites to correlate to the standards being taught in the classroom.
